Monitoring Wells are Up/Down and Running
The first two monitoring wells in the State Observation Well Station for the Northern Neck have been drilled near Burgess. Telemetry equipment has been installed that sends readings to a United States Geological Survey computer every 15 minutes.
You can access the information on Real Time Data for each well by clicking on the well numbers below.
Both wells are in the same borehole. The depth of the hole is 1,242 feet below land surface.
- Well #202 is at 1,224 feet below land surface and is completed in the Patapsco Formation
- Well #203 is at 924.5 feet below land surface and is completed in the Upper Cretaceous Series
The wells are checking different parts of the Potomac Aquifer.
Ground Water Withdrawal Public Meetings
There are 3 public meetings on Ground Water Withdrawal set with no agenda except for two items (item #1, and item#2). The intention for the meetings is to get public input.
1.Expanding the Eastern Virginia Ground Water Management Area
2. Reconsider the Ground Water Withdrawal regulation with input from a community advisory group to be formed.
